Materiality assessment

Conzzeta is committed to value-oriented corporate management and strives for sustainable value creation. This includes the appropriate consideration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues in management processes, as well as transparent communication. As part of a three-stage roadmap approved by the Executive Committee, the first step was taken with an internal review in 2017. This was followed in 2018 by a so-called materiality assessment, in which the key sustainability themes for the Group were identified in three steps (see chart).

The third stage of the roadmap came in 2019 with the development of the Conzzeta ESG reporting model. This is based on a detailed analysis in all business units and describes the approach for consistent reporting on each key topic. The results were published with the 2019 Annual Report. Implementation of the ESG reporting model was halted due to the new strategic reorientation announced in December 2019. As part of realigning its priorities, in 2020 the Group plans to review the key issues insofar as they concern Bystronic as an independent business, and to calculate the CO2 footprint of Bystronic’s Niederönz facility. The discontinued business units have laid solid foundations based on the materiality assessment carried out in 2018 and the detailed reporting model developed in 2019.
